National Vegetarian Week 2014

National Vegetarian Week 2014

National Vegetarian Week 2014 took place from Monday 19th to Sunday 25th May and was hailed a great success by veggies and non-veggies alike.  For businesses, community groups and educational establishments, it was an opportunity to highlight vegetarian products, share a meat-free meal and bring the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle into the classroom.  For individuals, the week was all about going vegetarian, discovering new foods and realising that your favourites can be made meat-free – just take a look at our recipes to see for yourself.

As part of National Vegetarian Week Quorn UK ran a Facebook competition to give customers the chance to win a day’s cookery experience at The Vegetarian Society’s Cordon Vert Cookery School in Altrincham.  The eight lucky winners, Sian Roberts, Taylah Catlow, David Sebastian, Matt Richards, Rebecca Roddis, Lucinda Henderson, Bailie Field and Janice Longmore, were all awarded a place at the exclusive cooking demonstration event hosted by Quorn UK and The Vegetarian Society, set to take place on Wednesday 20th August 2014.

The aim of the day will be to give winners a better understanding of vegetarian food by demonstrating a selection of varied dishes, emphasising the versatility of ‘going veggie’.  The taster menu set to feature will include popular dishes from across the globe including veggie takes on Mexican Loaded Nachos, English Steak & Ale Pie, French Cassoulet and Japanese sushi.  For those of you that didn’t win, visit the recipes section to create your own veggie masterclass at home!
