David currently works with a range celebrities and pro athletes such as Tulisa, Chelsee Healey and Wes Brown. David advocates protein to be the cornerstone of a balanced diet and believes "you're only as good as your last meal" and "eat the foods that count."

My Story and Views

"As a personal trainer and business owner I am on the go from 5am every day! My body is accustomed to jumping around sporadically and being on the move pretty much all day, from either helping our clients exercise or actually training myself. Exercise for me is the foundation of my energy and sense of routine, it keeps me pumped, it gives me incredible focus and it super charges my general energy levels way above what they would be.

My goals have always been to stay in good shape and maintain a low fat level year round... after all I am a personal trainer! Every year I will take on a big challenge for charity, which not only provides me immense satisfaction but gives me the structure and purpose to train! So far these have included The Marathon De Sables, Ironman, Hell Runner, London Triathlon, and Mount Kilimanjaro. I practice the same principles I preach to our clients "you always need a goal to aim for" even if it’s a holiday.

The Importance of Good Nutrition

Nutrition plays a big role in my world. I eat foods that will sustain me, that are enjoyable and provide the quality nutrition I need. Protein in particular is an outstanding energy source for everyday nutrition and all types of training goals. I love products from the Quorn range like Quorn mince and Quorn Chicken pieces; these protein packed meals are low in saturated fat and offer plentiful meal options, a favourite dish of mine is the Quorn meat free quarter pounder, it definitely hits the spot!

My current exercise regime favours weight training for the double benefit of building muscle and cardio it provides. It is an excellent way to increase your fat burning too!

I like to train set muscle groups 5 days a week and change the method they are performed periodically, for example 8-12 weeks could be dedicated to strength training and another period would be geared towards muscular endurance, speed and definition training. I find the balance of weight training to actually be therapeutic, but this also leaves me in good standing to amp up the cardio when it’s needed for my challenges. Currently I’m training for one of our own events, The Manchester 3000, which involves racing up the 10 tallest buildings in the city as fast as possible, this is completely new for me and I'm very excited! The training for this has been completely unique and it will be great to share it with you.

The success in our clients’ results does lie within the golden rule of "striking the balance between both good nutrition and exercise." Because protein rich foods in particular contain an abundance of super properties, by simply tweaking foods in your diet, you can not only regulate your weight loss and energy levels but actually achieve betters results in just a few weeks than you have in years. Try swapping two of your daily meals to a protein based food and see the difference its make to your day.
