Purpose of role:

To work on specific projects that will add value to the NPD expertise of the business and to assist in development of new Quorn and Cauldron products from concept through to launch, including supporting internal and external presentations, factory trials and finished product evaluation.

Key Activities:

The successful candidate will complete a rotation around the different areas of NPD to gain exposure to the different areas:

Culinary Insights – 6 months

  • Under guidance, develop new products using mycoprotein or Cauldron ingredients. Generate samples for internal and customer presentations. Establish a market benchmark for the product.
  • Works with Food lead to develop timeline and understand the various stages of the process

Process - 3 months

  • To assist UK NPD team on factory scale-up trials where applicable at both internal and external manufacturing sites.
  • To assist with the adaption of approved recipes for factory trial – making recipes factory friendly, preparing trial paperwork etc.
  • To help consider the process elements within the product development cycle, considering what processes may need to be used and what modifications may be require

NPD Development - 3 months

  • Under guidance, develop new products using mycoprotein or Cauldron ingredients.Generate samples for internal and customer presentations. Establish a market benchmark for the product.
  • Works with Food lead to develop timeline and understand the various stages of the process

Core Resource - throughout

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of finished products both internally and to external customers, up to director level. This may include some travel.
  • Assist NPD in buying products and samples for development/presentation purposes as required.
  • Nutritional calculation and verification of website recipes
  • The opportunity to collaborate across other departments to fulfil wider business objectives.

The successful applicant will have:

  • An interest in food and awareness of the meat free and vegetarian markets.
  • Previous experience working in the food and manufacturing industry.
  • Great food presentation skills and creativity.
  • A great communicator with good organisational skills.
  • A hard worker who is proactive and enthusiastic.
  • Good time management.
  • A team player with a flexible approach.
  • A clean driving licence is essential.
  • Computer literate and competent using word/excel.
  • Food hygiene certificate (desirable)
  • Food related experience (desirable)

Applicants must be available for an assessment day to be held on Tuesday 17th December, in Stokesley. This 12 month placement is to commence in Summer 2020.
